Thursday Meeting Confirmed
Dr. Delfino Aleman, the District 5 Area Superintendent who has been working hard to make this Harborside Program happen, is meeting with our teachers this Thursday, June 21st at 11 AM at Washington Elementary. Parents are welcome to attend. We'll report any news here Thursday afternoon. Hope to see you there.

Thanks so much for your comments and questions. I know I (Clea Hantman - daughter is Tuesday Motch who is going into First) was unfortunately out of town. I think some parents were nervous to go over there for exactly the reasons you stated. But there is time to work these things out. Dr. Aleman hadn't really shared much with that school while they were in session because everything was still in development. There are a lot of parents interested and sort of waiting it out to see what happens, mostly with the teachers. That's why I'm looking forward to tomorrow's meeting between Dr. Aleman and the teachers (as well as any parents who wish to come.) I personally don't think we'd be altogether separate, I mean, I would hope we could do things with these parents and kids such as carnivals, movie nights— fun stuff. Academically though, the idea is that we'd be separate. I think these issues will definitely be addressed somewhat tomorrow and in the coming couple of weeks.
Jinny...Thanks for your comment..According to the numbers it looks like 74 children enrolled (which astonished Dr. Aleman) who was expecting 30. Unfortunately, I was unable to make it to the carnival as well... VACATION!
